Yudhishthira's rule was actually really fair and just, his subjects loved him.

Some Karna fans say that Duryodhana's rule was just and that he was loved by the subjects but this is not true.

No it was not. Duryodhana's rule was a pathetic rule, and he was a horrible economist. The only people who enjoyed his rule were the men of the Brahmana castes. That's why the only people to praise his rule were Brahmanas. Duryodhana himself said that all the kings of the world & India hate the Kuru kingdom and Duryodhana.
Quote:
If, indeed, we stand up against them, our defeat is certain, for all the kings of the earth are under Yudhishthira's command. The people of the realm are all annoyed with us, and all our friends also are angry with us. All the kings of the earth are speaking ill of us, and especially all our friends and relatives.
Analysis: So under Duryodhana's reign the Kurus were hated.
Part 2 -
Also if Duryodhana's rule was just, if he was LOVED by the public as these Karna fans continuously state then how come the public always rebuked and censored him whenever the Pandavas left Hastinapore? Karna fans say repeatedly that the citizens of Hastinapore disliked the Pandavas and hated their rule, that is a lie, the citizens actually loved the Pandavas. They wanted the Pandavas as their rulers not the Kauravas.
1st instance (prior to house of lac)
Quote:
And some amongst the citizens and the country people, who followed the Pandavas, afflicted beyond measure at beholding the sons of Pandu in such distress, began to say aloud, 'King Dhritarashtra of wicked soul seeth no things with the same eye. The Kuru monarch casteth not his eye on virtue. Neither the sinless Yudhishthira, nor Bhima the foremost of mighty men, nor Dhananjaya the (youngest) son of Kunti, will ever be guilty (of the sin of waging a rebellious war). When these will remain quiet, how shall the illustrious son of Madri do anything? Having inherited the kingdom from their father, Dhritarashtra could not bear them. How is that Bhishma who suffers the exile of the Pandavas to that wretched place, sanctions this act of great injustice? Vichitravirya, the son of Santanu, and the royal sage Pandu of Kuru's race both cherished us of old with fatherly care. But now that Pandu that tiger among men, hath ascended to heaven, Dhritarashtra cannot bear with these princes his children. We who do not sanction this exile shall all go, leaving this excellent town and our own homes, where Yudhishthira will go.'
Source: http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m01/m01148.htm

Analysis: the citizens were afflicted and unhappy at the departure of Yudhishthira & the Pandava's. They all wanted to leave Hastinapore and go with Yudhishthira as he was a better ruler and person.

2nd instance (when Pandavas left during the partition to Khandavaprastha)
Quote:
'Commanded by the illustrious Drupada, the Pandavas, then, O king, and Krishna and Vidura, taking with them Krishna, the daughter of Drupada, and the renowned Kunti, journeyed towards the city called after the elephant, stopping at various places along the way for purposes of pleasure and enjoyment. King Dhritarashtra, hearing that those heroes had neared the capital sent out the Kauravas to receive them. They who were thus sent out were, O Bharata, Vikarna of the great bow, and Chitrasena, and Drona that foremost of warriors, and Kripa of Gautama's line. Surrounded by these, those mighty heroes, their splendour enhanced by that throng slowly entered the city of Hastinapura. The whole city became radiant, as it were, with the gay throng of sight-seers animated by curiosity. Those tigers among men gladdened the hearts of all who beheld them. And the Pandavas, dear unto the hearts of the people, heard, as they proceeded, various exclamations with the citizens, ever desirous of obeying the wishes of those princes, loudly uttered. Some exclaimed, 'Here returns that tiger among men, conversant with all the rules of morality and who always protects us as if we were his nearest relatives.' And elsewhere they said, 'It seems that king Pandu--the beloved of his people--returneth today from the forest, doubtless to do what is agreeable to us.' And there were some that said, 'What good is not done to us today when the heroic sons of Kunti come back to our town? If we have ever given away in charity, if we have ever poured libations of clarified butter on the fire, if we have any ascetic merit, let the Pandavas, by virtue of all those acts stay in our p. 407 town for a hundred years.'

Source: http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m01/m01210.htm

Analysis: This is even more proof and evidence that the citizens loved the Pandavas. They said the Pandavas protect them as if these ordinary citizens are their closest relatives. They said that they wished for the Pandavas to stay in Hastinapore for at-least a hundred years. So clearly the Pandavas were more loved by the citizens than the Kauravas and Karna ever were.

3rd instance (after the Pandavas left Hastinapore for their exile)
Quote:

And the citizens learning of their departure became overwhelmed with sorrow, and began to censure Bhishma and Vidura and Drona and Gautama. And having met together they thus addressed one another fearlessly.
'Alas, our families, we ourselves, and our homes are all gone, when the wicked Duryodhana, backed by the son of Suvala, by Karna and Dussasana, aspireth to this kingdom. And, Oh, our families, our (ancestral) usages, our virtue and prosperity, are all doomed where this sinful wretch supported by wretches as sinful aspireth to the kingdom! And, Oh, how
can happiness be there where these are not! Duryodhana beareth malice towards all superiors, hath taken leave of good conduct, and quarreleth with those that are near to him in blood. Covetous and vain and mean, he is cruel by nature. The whole earth is doomed when Duryodhana becometh its ruler. Thither, therefore, let us proceed whither the merciful and high-minded sons of Pandu with passions under control and victorious over foes, and possessed of modesty and renown, and devoted to pious practices, repair!'
"Vaisampayana said, 'And saying this, the citizens went after the Pandavas, and having met them, they all, with joined hands, thus addressed the sons of Kunti and Madri.
'Blest be ye! Where will ye go, leaving us in grief? We will follow you whithersoever ye will go! Surely have we been distressed upon learning that ye have been deceitfully vanquished by relentless enemies! It behoveth you not to forsake us that are your loving subjects and devoted friends always seeking your welfare and employed in doing what is agreeable to you! We desire not to be overwhelmed in certain destruction living in the dominions of the Kuru king. Ye bulls among men, listen as we indicate the merits and demerits springing respectively from association with what is good and bad! As cloth, water, the ground, and sesame seeds are perfumed by association with flowers, even so are qualities ever the product of association. Verily association with fools produceth an illusion that entangleth the mind, as daily communion with the good and the wise leadeth to the practice of virtue. Therefore, they that desire emancipation should associate with those that are wise and old and honest and pure in conduct and possessed of ascetic merit. They should be waited upon whose triple possessions, viz., knowledge (of the Vedas), origin and acts, are all pure, and association with them is even superior to (the study of the) scriptures. Devoid of the religious acts as we are, we shall yet reap religious merit by association with the righteous, as we should come by sin by waiting upon the sinful. The very sight and touch of the dishonest, and converse and association with them; cause diminution of virtue, and men (that are doomed to these), never attain purity of mind. Association with the base impaireth the understanding, as, indeed, with the indifferent maketh it indifferent, while communion with the good ever exalteth it. All those attributes which are spoken of in the world as the sources of religious merit, of worldly prosperity and sensual pleasures, which are regarded by the people, extolled in the Vedas, and approved by the well-behaved, exist in you, separately and jointly! Therefore, desirous of our own welfare, we wish to live amongst you who possess those attributes!
"Yudhishthira said, 'Blessed are we since the people with the Brahmanas at their head, moved by affection and compassion credit us
with merits we have not. I, however, with my brothers, would ask all of you to do one thing. Ye should not, through affection and pity for us, act otherwise! Our grandfather Bhishma, the king (Dhritarashtra), Vidura, my mother and most of my well-wishers, are all in the city of Hastinapura. Therefore, if ye are minded to seek our welfare, cherish ye them with care, uniting together as they are overwhelmed with sorrow and afflictions. Grieved at our departure, ye have come far! Go ye back, and let your hearts be directed with tenderness towards the relatives I entrust to you as pledges! This, of all others, is the one act upon which my heart is set, and by doing this ye would give me great satisfaction and pay me your best regards!
"Vaisampayana continued, 'Thus exhorted by Yudhishthira the just, the people in a body set up a loud wail exclaiming,--Alas, O king! And afflicted and overwhelmed with sorrow on remembering the virtues of Pritha's son, they unwillingly retraced their steps asking leave of the Pandavas.
Source: http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m03/m03001.htm
Conclusion: We can only conclude this fact, that the subjects were not happy with Duryodhana's rule and that they all loved the Pandavas much more than they ever loved Duryodhana. I'm pretty sure that even a child could find out this fact if they actually payed attention to the Mahabharata and read the books. The people of Hastinapore liked Yudhishthira & his Pandava brothers, they hated Duryodhana & his Kaurava brothers. Sad unfortunate truth and reality for the fans of Karna and the Kurus but it is the truth so deal with it.
All people of Hastinapore loved Yudhishthira.

The truth about the Karna vs Arjuna fight at Draupadi Swayamvara.

I have to bring back intelligence into the Mahabharata community. Their are a lot of idiotic Karna fans out their who keep spreading wrong information about the fight between Karna & Arjuna during Draupadi Swayamvara. They say that Arjuna lied that he was a Brahmana, they don't even know that Karna lied to Parshuram for training. That doesn't mean that Karna was defeated by Parshuram. Even Krishna believed that it was okay to tell lies. I will be setting the record straight for this incident of Draupadi Swayamvara, where Karna was most clearly defeated. I will prove his defeat with sources, links, quotes, screenshots, analysis etc.
  1. This fight was clearly a defeat for Karna.
    1. Vaisampayana called this fight a defeat of Karna.
      1. Screenshot -
      2. Link - http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m01/m01003.htm
        1. So to all those fools who are trying to say that Karna defeated Arjuna & spared his life at Draupadi Swayamvara just shut the fuck up. The student of Ved Vyasa disagrees with you, Vaisampayana himself just said that Arjuna defeated Karna.
      3. Kama is used for Karna.
        1. Screenshot - Karna is the one to get so much importance as to have his name be mentioned with Bhishma and Drona all the time.
        2. Link - http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m03/m03250.htm
  2. Pathetic excuses for Karna's defeat.
    1. Karna did not have his Vijaya bow
      1. Refute - Arjuna defeated Karna when the latter had the same Vijaya bow during the kurukshetra war. Vijaya bow could not save Karna.
        1. Screenshot -
      2. Arjuna did not have his Gandiva bow either.
  3. Misconception about Karna being mild on Arjuna over here as he was disguised in the form of a Brahmana.
    1. Right before the fight started all monarchs including Karna accepted that it was okay to kill the brahmins. [Note: Jishnu was another name of Arjuna]
      1. Then those monarchs eager for the fight fiercely exclaimed, 'The slaughter in battle of one desiring to fight is permitted.' And saying this, the monarchs suddenly rushed against the Brahmanas. And Karna endued with great energy rushed against Jishnu for fight.
    2. Drishtadyumna says that Brahmana's can be killed
      1. Quote
        1. Thou shalt not escape from me with life. That, Brahmana who, abandoning the practices of a Brahmana, devoteth himself to the practices of a Kshatriya, becomes slayable by all Kshatriyas even as thou, p. 369 [paragraph continues] O lowest of men.'
      2. Source - http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m07/m07156.htm
    3. Even Bhishma also claimed that you are allowed to kill a Brahmana in battle

      2. Link to the source - http://sacred-texts.com/hin/m05/m05181.htm
  4. Description of the fight.
    1. Arjuna knocks out Karna.
      1. Quote

      2. And Karna endued with great energy rushed against Jishnu for fight. And Salya the mighty king of Madra rushed against Bhima like an elephant rushing against another for the sake of a she-elephant in heat; while Duryodhana and others engaged with the Brahmanas, skirmished with them lightly and carelessly. Then the illustrious Arjuna beholding Karna, the son of Vikartana (Surya), advancing towards him, drew his tough bow and pieced him with his sharp arrows. And the impetus of those whetted arrows furnished with fierce energy made Radheya (Karna) faint.
    2. Karna recovers and attacks with greater care.
      1. Quote
        1. Recovering consciousness Karna attacked Arjuna with greater care than before. Then Karna and Arjuna, both foremost of victorious warriors, desirous of vanquishing each other, fought madly on. And such was the lightness of hand they both displayed that (each enveloped by the other's shower of arrows) they both became invisible (unto the spectators of their encounter). 'Behold the strength of my arms.'--'Mark, how I have counteracted that feat,'--those were the words--intelligible to p. 379 heroes alone--in which they addressed each other. And incensed at finding the strength and energy of Arjuna's arms unequalled on the earth, Karna, the son of Surya, fought with greater vigour. And parrying all those impetuous arrows shot at him by Arjuna, Karna sent up a loud shout. And this feat of his was applauded by all the warriors.
    3. Arjuna threatens to use Paurandara-astra & Karna retreats running away as usual.
      1. Quote
        1. Then addressing his antagonist, Karna said, 'O thou foremost of Brahmanas, I am gratified to observe the energy of thy arms that knoweth no relaxation in battle and thy weapons themselves fit for achieving victory. Art thou the embodiment of the science of weapons, or art thou Rama that best of Brahmanas, or Indra himself, or Indra's younger brother Vishnu called also Achyuta, who for disguising himself hath assumed the form of a Brahmana and mustering such energy of arms fighteth with me? No other person except the husband himself of Sachi or Kiriti, the son of Pandu, is capable of fighting with me when I am angry on the field of battle.' Then hearing those words of his, Phalguna replied, saying, 'O Karna, I am neither the science of arms (personified), nor Rama endued with superhuman powers. I am only a Brahmana who is the foremost of all warriors and all wielders of weapons. By the grace of my preceptor I have become accomplished in the Brahma and the Paurandara weapons. I am here to vanquish thee in battle. Therefore, O hero, wait a little.' "Vaisampayana continued, 'Thus addressed (by Arjuna), Karna the adopted son of Radha desisted from the fight, for that mighty chariot-fighter thought that Brahma energy is ever invincible.
    4. Source - http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m01/m01193.htm
  5. Analysis
    1. Overall Arjuna remains the ultimate victor in this fight.
      1. Arjuna knocked Karna out but Karna could never do this to Arjuna over here. Karna lost his senses during this fight but Arjuna never lost senses.
      2. Arjuna had no special celestial equipment but Karna had the coat of mail from Surya.
      3. Karna was unable to gain any advantage over Arjuna, all Karna could do was just dodge a few arrows that Arjuna shot at him. That is not a victory.
      4. This fight was termed as a defeat for Karna. Vaisampayana the student of Vyasa (grandfather of Karna's best friend Duryodhana) accepted that Karna lost here.

Drupad defeated Karna and Karna ran away.

DRUPADA VS KARNA, A DEEP & DETAILED ANALYSIS!
Drupad had defeated Karna.
Drupada had defeated Karna when the latter went on a mission to vanquish the former and make him (Drupad) a captive.
1) Gurudakshina
When Karna and his comrades set out for battle
Quote:
Those warriors then answering, 'So be it', speedily mounted up on their chariots, and for bestowing upon their preceptor the fee he had demanded, marched out, accompanied by him. Those bulls among men, smiting the Panchalas on their way, laid siege to the capital of the great Drupada. And Duryodhana and Karna and the mighty Yuyutsu, and Duhsasana and Vikarna and Jalasandha and Sulochana, these and many other foremost of Kshatriya princes of great prowess, vied with one another in becoming the foremost in the attack. And the princes, riding in first class chariots and following the cavalry, entered the hostile capital, and proceeded along the streets.

Analysis:
This text says that Karna mounted his chariot, was accompanied by even Drona (the preceptor), Since this text says that Karna and his comrades views with one another" that means they were contending against each-other to see who can become the best in the attack. So their was a lack of unity among-st Karna and his team, despite the Kouravas being in it.
It also says that Karna had attacked the capital and was in the streets of Pancala.

Karna's fight with Drupad.
Quote:
Meanwhile Drupada beholding the Kuru host, rushed forward and pouring a fierce shower of arrows around, terribly afflicted the Kuru ranks. And such was his lightness of motion on the field of battle that, though he was fighting unsupported on a single chariot, the Kurus from panic supposed that there were many Drupadas opposed to them. And the fierce arrows of that monarch fell fast on all sides, till conchs and trumpets and drums by thousands began to be sounded by the Panchalas from their houses (giving the alarm). Then there arose from the mighty Panchala host a roar terrible as that of the lion, while the twang of their bow-strings seemed to rend the very heavens. Then Duryodhana and Vikarna, Suvahu and Dirghalochana and Duhsasana becoming furious, began to shower their arrows upon the enemy. But the mighty bowman, Prishata's son, invincible in battle, though very much pierced with the arrows of the enemy, instantly began, O Bharata, to afflict the hostile ranks with greater vigour. And careering over the field of battle like a fiery wheel, king Drupada with his arrows smote Duryodhana and Vikarna and even the mighty Karna and many other heroic princes and numberless warriors, and slaked their thirst for battle. Then all the citizens showered upon the Kurus various missiles like clouds showering rain-drops upon the earth. Young and old, they all rushed to battle, assailing the Kurus with vigour. The Kauravas, then, O Bharata, beholding the battle become frightful, broke and fled wailing towards the Pandavas.

"The Pandavas, hearing the terrible wail of the beaten host, reverentially saluted Drona and ascended their chariots.

Analysis: Drupada was attacking Karna too fast for him to see properly. It was as if their were hundreds of Drupadas instead of just one Drupada on them. Also the citizens of the Pancala kingdom attacked karna and his comrades too.
Karna was not alone. Other people were also fighting along his side. Duryodhana, Duhsasana, Yuyutsu, Vikarna, Chitrasena (Kaurava brother), Durmukha, Dussaha, Durmasana & other students of Drona.
What is most surprising about this incident is not just the fact that Karna lost this fight even though he had the support of 101 Kuru brothers/princes, several other warriors and his armor/ear-rings. It is not even that Panchala citizens wounded Karna, but the fact that Karna actually cried and wailed to the Pandavas. Look up the definitions of the word "wailing", that is the most astonishing incident in this chapter.
_________________________________________________________________
2) Some pathetic excuses made for Karna's defeat.
Excuse number 1 - This is included in KMG but Karna’s defeat and the Kouravas defeat is removed as an interpolation in BORI Mahabharata.
Refute: BORI Mahabharata did not remove this defeat of karna, they just skipped it. They edited it out and removed all details of the incident. According to BORI all pupils of Drona together went to Panchala and made Drupada a captive. They didn't narrate any war and fighting for this incident. So it is not clear if Karna was defeated or not in BORI.
Gita Press is just as (if not more) authentic as BORI and it includes Karna's defeat their.
Screenshot - http://s1243.photobucket.com/user/pawangup0/media/ScreenShot2015-01-01at44154pm_zps78a1260e.png.html [it is not in English though]
Also i am not sure why you Karna fanatics seem to love BORI so much. According to BORI even Shiva was defeated by Arjuna in Khandava-daha.
Excuse number 2 - Karna did not accompany Duryodhana in this incident. It was a different karna not the Vasusena, Radheya, Vaikartana, Vrisha, Suta's son, Karna.
Refute: It was clearly Vasusena Karna that was defeated by Drupad.
He had every reason to go. The incident was an opportune moment for him. This was Karna's chance to prove his superiority to Arjuna, to repay the debt of Drona's teachings, to support his friend Duryodhana, to make the Pandavas look bad.
Moreover, the text that describes the fight of Drupad against the Kouravas, clearly shows the name of "Karna" written in it. It says "even the mighty Karna", the name of Karna is taken right alongside Duryodhana's. A different Karna would never get this much importance, the only Karna that would be called mighty and would have his name taken alongside Duryodhana would be Vasusena Karna. So it has to be him. No one has ever succeeded in proving that the Karna who lost to Drupad was a different Karna. The Hindi edition "Gita Press" mentions Karna's name four (4) times in this incident. It has to be the same Karna. A different Karna would never get this much importance.
Excuse number 3 - Karna's mythological father Surya had blessed Drupada with a boon to remain invincible as long as he was battling within 100 yojanas (arithmetic term) of his kingdom.
Refute: No such incident is ever mentioned in Mahabharata that Drupad had any boon, nor was it ever stated that he was a worshiper of the sun god Surya. And seriously if Drupada had such a boon then he would not have been defeated by the Pandavas (led by Arjuna). They were within 100 yojanas of his his kingdom and still beat him in combat making him their war prisoner. So please don't make up your own fake stories dear Karna fans.
Excuse number 4 - Even if Karna participated then he still was not defeated as he did not retreat. Because it is only mentioned that the Kouravas fled and retreated.
Refute: In the actual incident it is not mentioned that Karna fled but it is mentioned that he was defeated.
Read this line from Adi Parva Section 141: And careering over the field of battle like a fiery wheel, king Drupada with his arrows smote Duryodhana and Vikarna and even the mighty Karna and many other heroic princes and numberless warriors, and slaked their thirst for battle.
Meaning of the word smote: the Synonym of Smote is Chastise, the synonym of Chastise is Beat. So it (smote) means beat.
Synonyms of "smote": Swat, Chastise, Thrash, Punish etc.
Source 1: http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/smote
Source 2: http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/chastise
Also those Brahmins who met the Pandavas in Chaitraratha Parva claimed that Karna ran away from Drupad. So it should be clear as day & night that Karna fled after being beaten.
Conclusion: Karna was clearly defeated by Drupada in this battle.
Excuse number 5 - Vrishasena defeated Drupad during Drona Parva, so how could Drupad defeat Karna when he was defeated by even the son of Karna?
Refute - So what if Vrishasena defeated Drupada? He defeated Drupada when Drupada was old. A Drupada that was literally 50 years older than the time he defeated the Kouravas & Karna (during Adi Parva). Vrishasena did not defeat Drupad in his prime. Also it doesn't matter that it is the son of Karna, because sons can surpass their fathers. It would mean Karna's son is more powerful than him.
Excuse number 6 - This defeat was not mentioned by the Karna hate club in Mahabharata (Bhishma, Drona, Kripa, Asvathamman & Shalya), they would have surely used it to belittle him if he did indeed lose to Drupada.
Refute - The reason that these great men did not talk about Karna's defeat at the hands of Drupada is because it would not belittle him. Because Karna defeated Drupada in the second encounter (Narayana-Yajna), these personalities did not even have an opportunity to talk about this defeat of Karna.
Excuse number 7 - Their is no cross reference for the defeat of Karna in this incident) in the Mahabharata.
Refute: Nope their is indeed a cross reference. The cross reference is in Chaitraratha Parva. Where Brahmanas met the Pandavas in disguise. They told them that Karna was defeated by Drupada, and fled the battlefield. Here is the screenshot from Gita Press - http://photobucket.com/gallery/user/pawangup0/media/cGF0aDovU2NyZWVuU2hvdDIwMTUtMDEtMDFhdDQ0MTU0cG1fenBzNzhhMTI2MGUucG5n/?ref=
Excuse number 8 - Karna defeated Drupada in the Narayana Yajna, so how could Drupad possibly have defeated him?
Refute: When Karna went for his conquest during the time of the Narayana Yajna, Duryodhan's sacrifice etc, Drupad was already over 50 years older than he was during the time of Sambhava Parva (the Parva in which he defeated Karna & Duryodhana, rest of Kouravas etc). Drupada was too old, he was way past his prime.
And Karna was not the same inexperienced arrogant fool he used to be back in the day. Karna had tasted several defeats and those losses molded him into a more cautious fighter. Karna wasn't a brash young man anymore. He had done more training this time, with Bhargava, and fought Gandharvas unlike Drupada. He learned all the Brahma weapons now too.
The reason for Karna's victory is because Karna had improved, he learned & bettered himself after 50 years of training. Drupad had only gotten older and weaker over those fifty years. He was incapable of moving as fast as he could before anymore. Drupada was not the same man anymore. After so many years things would clearly change.
Conclusion: king Drupad clearly defeated Karna in the Adi Parva of Mahabharata. Young Drupad > Karna > old Drupada. This is probably Karna’s first war or battle (when Drupad beat him).

They come across a group of Rishis who tell stories about their preceptor Drona. 4) Narayana Yajna
Description:
When Karna & Duryodhana were defeated in their war against the Gandharva tribe (led by Citrasena) and freed by the Pandava's, then Duryodhana got very depressed. To reclaim their honor and boost their self esteem Duryodhana chose to perform a sacrifice. And for it he would need the eighteen kings of north India to pay tribute to him. Each of them had to be Vishnu worshipers. So Karna volunteered to be the leader of the campaign and Duryodhana agreed. The first king attacked by Karna was Drupada. He took the armies of Hastinapore and Anga to attack Drupad & the Pancalas together.
Quote:
"Then, O bull among the Bharatas, that mighty bowman, Karna, surrounded by a large army, besieged the beautiful city of Drupada. And he, after a hard conflict, brought the hero under subjection, and, O best of monarchs, made Drupada contribute silver and gold and gems, and also pay tribute. And, O foremost of kings, having subdued him, (Karna) brought under subjection those princes that were under him (Drupada) and made them pay tribute."
Analysis: Karna defeated Drupad, and conquered the kingdom of Panchala. Karna forced Drupada to pay income tax, poor Drupad could not save his money from Karna.

Year 56, incognito year is over, call for war and peace talks start.
#Year_57, Kurukshetra war begins. Vrishasena defeats Drupada. Drona kills Drupada a few hours later.
Conclusions:
1. Young Drupada very easily defeated Karna and the 101 Kourava brothers (including Suyodhana, Dushasana, Vikarna, Sulochana, Yuyutsu, Bhimaratha, Chitrasena, Durmukha, Jalasandha etc).

2. Karna's defeat at the hands of Drupada was mentioned by Brahmins. It was also said that Karna fled away. The very Brahmins who Karna donates too and respects alot are the same people who accepted that Karna fled from Drupad here and their.

3. The Karna that was defeated by Drupada was clearly Kunti's son Karna. The same character adopted by Adhiratha & Radha, raised among the suta family. The unknown elder half-brother of the Pandavas. That Karna is the one who Drupad beat.

4. 52 years later Karna managed to defeat a old Drupad that was much past his prime time as a warrior. While Karna on the other hand had more years of experience. These are the reasons for Karna's victory & Drupad's failure in the Narayana Yajna.

5. Vrishasena the son of Karna defeated Drupada on the 14th night of the Kuruskhetra war. This was 5 years after the Narayana Yajna and 56 years after the younger Drupad defeated Vrishasena's father Karna.

6. Karna most clearly ran away from Drupada after being defeated and getting his ass kicked. even Brahmins accepted this fact and told other Brahmanas (they did not even know that they were talking to the Pandavas).

7. Karna after losing to Drupada, started to cry to the Pandavas, wailing towards them. Wailing and crying towards the very Pandavas who he (karna) was jealous of.

8. Karna and the Kouravas lost to Drupad because they lacked unity, they were inexperienced, they were too arrogant and cocky, they fell for the trap and got ambushed by the citizens of Panchala, their opponent (Drupada) was moving too fast for them to react to. It was as if their were 100 Drupadas instead of just one.

ARJUNA ULTIMATE WARRIOR RESPECT THREAD PART 3: ARJUNA PROTECTING GODS

Many haters of Arjuna cry on the basis of him being protected in the Kurukshetra war by gods like Siva and Krishna (who characters of Mahabharata and fans of Mahabharata believed to be gods).
Well i am here to tell you that they are all wrong, that the real fact is that Arjuna had protected the gods far more times than any god protected him. It was not the deity's that were with Arjuna, instead it was Arjuna who was with the deity's.
Gods supported Arjuna? Gods saved Arjuna? Really? My answer to this theory of Arjuna's blind haters is this respect thread. In actuality it is Arjuna who always protected gods.
Now that the introduction is over with. I am going to divide this thread into 3 parts.
  1. Arjuna protecting Krishna
    1. All the times Arjuna saved Krishna from utter death in the Mahabharata. But i don’t see any of karna’s fans speak about these incidents.
      1. Incident 1 (Khandav-daha) - Armed with machines vomiting from their throats (mouths?) iron balls and bullets, and catapults for propelling huge stones, and rockets, they approached to strike Krishna and Partha, their energy and strength increased by wrath. But though they rained a perfect shower of weapons, Vibhatsu, addressing them reproachfully, struck off their heads with his own sharp arrows. http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m01/m01230.htm
      2. Incident 2 (12th day) - Then mighty Samsaptakas car-warriors, O king, shot at Arjuna thousands of straight arrows. Covered with those arrows, O monarch, neither Kunti's son Partha, nor Krishna, otherwise called Janardana, nor the steeds, nor the p. 64 car, could be seen. Then Janardana became deprived of his senses and perspired greatly. Thereupon, Partha shot the Brahma weapon and nearly exterminated them all. Hundreds upon hundreds of arms with bows and arrows and bowstrings in grasp, cut off from trunks, and hundreds upon hundreds of standards and steeds and charioteers and car-warriors, fell down on the ground. Huge elephants, well-equipped and resembling foremost hills over-grown with woods or masses of clouds, afflicted with Partha's shafts and deprived of riders, fell down on the earth. http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m07/m07025.htm
      3. Incident 3 (14th day) - 'Saying these words, king Duryodhana pierced Arjuna with three shafts of great impetuosity and capable of penetrating into the very vitals. And with four others he pierced the four steeds of his foe. And he pierced Vasudeva in the centre of the chest with ten shafts, and cutting off, with a broad-headed arrow, the whip in the latter's hands, he felled it on the ground. Then Partha, coolly and without losing a moment, shot at him four and ten shafts whetted on stone and equipped p. 207 with beautiful feathers. http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m07/m07099.htm
      4. Incident 4 (14th day) - The son of Drona struck Vasudeva with three and seventy shafts, and Arjuna himself with three broad-headed shafts, and his standard and (four) steeds with five others. Beholding Janardana pierced, Arjuna, filled with rage, struck Aswatthaman with hundred shafts. Then piercing Karna with ten arrows and Vrishasena with three, the valiant Dhananjaya cut off Salya's bow with arrows fixed on the string, at the handle. http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m07/m07100.htm
      5. Incident 5 (14th day) - Then Bhurisravas filled with rage, cut off the goad in Krishna's hand, and struck Arjuna with three and twenty shafts. Then Dhananjaya, of white steeds, filled with rage, mangled those enemies of his with hundreds upon hundreds of arrows, like a mighty tempest tearing masses of clouds.'" http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m07/m07100.htm
      6. Incident 6 (16th day) - Then Satyasena filled with rage, hurled a formidable lance in that battle aiming at Krishna and uttered a leonine roar. That ironmouthed lance having a golden shaft, piercing through the left arm of the high-souled Madhava, penetrated into the Earth. Madhava being thus pierced with that lance in great battle the goad and the reins, O king, fell down from his hands. Beholding Vasudeva's limb pierced through, Pritha's son Dhananjaya mustered all his wrath and addressing Vasudeva said, "O mighty-armed one, bear the car to Satyasena, O puissant one, so that I may, with keen shafts, despatch him to Yama's abode." The illustrious Keshava then, quickly taking up the goad and the reins, caused the steeds to bear the car to the front of Satyasena's vehicle. Beholding the Ruler of the Universe pierced, Pritha's son Dhananjaya, that mighty car-warrior, checking Satyasena with some keen arrows, cut off with a number of broad-headed shafts of great sharpness, the large head of that king decked with earrings, from off his trunk at the head of the army. http://sacred-texts.com/hin/m08/m08027.htm
      7. Incident 7 (17th day) - Assailing him, they uttered loud roars although all the while they were being struck and slaughtered with sharp shafts. Assailing his steeds, his car-wheels, his car-shaft, and every other limb of his vehicle, with great force, O sire, they uttered many leonine roars. Some among them seized the massive arms of Keshava, and some among them, O king, seized Partha himself with great joy as he stood on his car. Then Keshava, shaking his arms on the field of battle, threw down all those that had seized them, like a wicked elephant shaking down all the riders from his back. Then Partha, encompassed by those great car-warriors, and beholding his car assailed and Keshava attacked in that manner became filled with rage, and overthrew a large number of car-warriors and foot-soldiers. And he covered all the combatants that were close to him with many arrows, that were fit for close encounters. http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m08/m08053.htm
      8. Incident 8 (17th day) - Endued with great activity, Vrisha, enraged at the stroke of the shaft, like a snake beaten with stick, shot many mighty shafts, like snakes of virulent poison vomiting venom. And he pierced Janardana with a dozen shafts and Arjuna with nine and ninety. And once more piercing the son of Pandu with a terrible shaft, Karna laughed and uttered a loud roar. The son of Pandu, however, could not endure his enemy's joy. Acquainted with all the vital parts of the human body, Partha, possessed of prowess like that of Indra, pierced those vital limbs with hundreds of arrows even as Indra had struck Vala with great energy. Then Arjuna sped ninety arrows, each resembling the rod of Death at Karna. Deeply pierced with those shafts, Karna trembled like a mountain riven with thunder. The head-gear of Karna, adorned with costly gems and precious diamonds and pure gold, as also his earrings, cut off by Dhananjaya with his winged arrows, fell down on the earth. http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m08/m08090.htm
    2. Arjuna protecting other gods
      1. Paulomas
      2. Nivata-kavachas. These being's were causing trouble for the resident's of Amaravati (the kingdom of gods)
      1. Lord Indra's statement: O king, when I had said these words, Indra with a smile said unto me 'Nothing is there in the three worlds that is not in thy power (to achieve) My enemies, those Danavas, named, Nivata-Kavachas dwell in the womb of the ocean. And they number thirty million and are notorious, and all of equal forms and strength and splendour. Do thou slay them there, O Kunti's son; and that will be thy preceptor's fee. http://sacred-texts.com/hin/m03/m03167.htm - (Chapter linK)
      1. Indra agreed that the kalakanjas were his enemies and he could not defeat them but Arjuna did defeat them [Indra to Arjuna]: And with the Marutas, hearing of the destruction of Hiranyapura, of the neutralisation of the illusion, and of the slaughter of the highly powerful Nivatakavachas in fight, the prosperous thousand-eyed divine Purandara was well pleased, and exclaimed, 'Well done; Well done!' And the king of the celestials together with the celestials, cheering me again and again, said these sweet words, 'By thee hath been achieved a feat incapable of being achieved by the gods and the Asuras. And, O Partha, by slaying my mighty enemies, thou hast paid the preceptor's fee. http://sacred-texts.com/hin/m03/m03172.htm - (Chapter linK)
      2. Matali's statement: 'Beholding that excellent city, superior to the city of the celestials themselves, I asked Matali, saying, 'Why do not the celestials reside in such (a place)? Surely, this appeareth superior to the city of Purandara.' Thereat, Matali said, 'In days of yore, O Partha, even this was the city of our lord of the celestials. Afterwards the celestials were driven from hence by the Nivata-Kavachas. Having performed the most rigid austerities, they had gratified the Grand-father and had asked (and obtained) the boons--namely, that they might reside here, and that they might be free from danger in wars with the gods.' Then Sakra addressed the self-create lord saying, 'Do thou, O lord, desirous of our own welfare do what is proper.' Thereupon, O Bharata, in this matter the Lord commanded (Indra), saying, 'O slayer of foes, in another body, even thou shalt be (the destroyer of the Danavas).' Then, in order to slaughter them, Sakra rendered unto thee those weapons. The gods had been unable to slay these, who have been slain by thee. http://sacred-texts.com/hin/m03/m03171.htm - (Chapter linK)
        1. As per Matali the gods (Indra, Vishnu, Mahadeva) were unable to slay the Nivata-Kavachas, and their original city was stolen by these demons. But Arjuna was able to slay them for revenge. Arjuna protected the gods once again by doing this.
    3. Regarding Arjuna being protected.
      1. Bhagadatta's death
        1. Arjuna stated that he was fully competent to baffle this Vaishnava weapon of Bhagadatta - Filled then with rage, he with Mantras, turned his hook into the Vaishnava weapon and hurled it at Arjuna's breast. That all-slaying weapon, hurled by Bhagadatta, Kesava, covering Arjuna, received  on his breast. Thereupon, that weapon became a triumphal garland on Kesava's breast. Arjuna then cheerlessly addressed Kesava, saying, 'O sinless one, without battling thyself, thou art to only guide my steed! Thou hadst said so, O lotus-eyed one! Why then dost thou not adhere to thy promise? If I sink in distress, or become unable to baffle, or resist a foe or weapon, then mayst thou act so, but not when I am standing thus. Thou knowest that with my bow and arrows I am competent to vanquish these worlds with the gods, the Asuras, and men.' http://sacred-texts.com/hin/m07/m07027.htm - (Chapter linK)
          1. Considering the above narrative, Arjuna clearly believed he was competent enough to counter the Vaishnava weapon.
      2. Aswashena
        1. Krishna sank the chariot because Arjuna thought that he was just another ordinary arrow of Karna. He did not know that their was a snake sitting on it.
        2. Arjuna still killed the snake with ease using six shafts once he found out the identity of the arrowhead - 'Then Jishnu, turning his face in rage, cut off, with six keen shafts, that snake in the welkin as the latter was coursing in a slanting direction. His body thus cut off, he fell down on the earth. After that snake had been cut off by Arjuna, the lord Keshava himself, O king, of massive arms, that foremost of beings, raised up with his arms that car from the earth. http://sacred-texts.com/hin/m08/m08090.htm - (Chapter linK)
          1. Jishnu was another name of Arjuna.
Why is Arjuna not given credit nowadays for protecting Krishna from warriors like Duryodhana, Satyasena, Bhurishravas etc? Why do people box Arjuna into a category of being protected and saved by others? It is Arjuna who repeatedly saved Krishna not the other way around.
Also some fools think that this picture above is of Karna slaying Ghatotkaca. In actuality it isn't that incident. What this picture describes is Arjuna's aerial battle with the Kalakanjas in Vana Parva. Arjuna was able to kill 30 million demons - My enemies, those Danavas, named, Nivata-Kavachas dwell in the womb of the ocean. And they number thirty million and are notorious, and all of equal forms and strength and splendour. Do thou slay them there, O Kunti's son; and that will be thy preceptor's fee. [http://sacred-texts.com/hin/m03/m03167.htm] - As per Indra's statement.
Compare this to Karna who was overpowered by a single half-demon like Ghatotkaca. This is why Arjuna is the best, and will always be the best warrior in Mahabharata.
Even gods took Arjuna's help in Mahabharata. But no god ever took the help of the loser Karna.
