Quote:
After having conquered many countries with war and valour, Pandu retired to the forest with the sages, because he was fond of hunting.
Analysis: This passage clearly states that Pandu conquered alot of countries, and he did it through war, no one accepted peace (inference).
- Pandu was called lord of the earth.
Quote:
"Therefore, Pandu became the lord of the earth."
Analysis: Being the lord of the "earth" means that you are the only one, the emperor. The reason is because of the use of the word "the" before "lord".

- What was his goal?
Quote:
Pandu had strength, courage and enterprise. After marrying, he decided to conquer the earth and vanquish many enemies.

As per Vaisampayana, Pandu's goal was to conquer the earth.

- Actual conquest
- His first target (the Dasharnas)
Quote:
Pandu, lion among men, went to the east and defeated the Dasharnas in battle, thereby spreading the fame of the Kouravas.
Analysis: The Dasarnas lived in the east, so they were at the east of Hastinapore. It was next to chedi. So this is a yadava kingdom/tribe conquered by Pandu.
Source: Adi parva Section 105.
- His second conquest (Magadha)
Quote:
Then with his army, which had many flags flying and many elephants, horses, chariots and infantry, he attacked Darva, the king of the Magadha kingdom, who was proud of his valour and had made enemies out of all the kings. He was killed in Rajagriha and his treasury, transport and armies seized.
Analysis: Even Bhisma could not conquer Magadha in an actual battle, but look at what Pandu did. Pandu was greater than Bhisma, same Bhisma who defeated Parshuram. So logiclaly Pandu is better than parshuram as well.

- Pandu conquers the kingdom of Rama's wife (Seetha)
Quote:
Then Pandu went to Mithila and conquered Videha in battle.
Analysis:
Mithila was the capital of the Videha kingdom, Janaka was still the king at this time (if you read Sabha Parva then you would know this).

- Pandu conquers three more nations
Quote:
"O bull among the Bharata lineage! Then the fame of the Kurus spread to Kashi, Suhma and Pundra."

- Pandu burned Kings alive
Quote:
Through the strength of his own arms. Pandu, the scorcher of foes, burnt kings with the great net of his flaming arrows and his dazzling weapons. He was like a great fire and defeated with his army the kings and their armies.
Analysis: It's written clearly that Pandu used his own arm strength to defeat his opponents. This proves he was an all rounder.

- Every king of the earth recognized Pandu as the only warrior (the only person capable of fighting).
Quote:
After conquering them, Pandu engaged them in the work of the Kurus. Having been thus vanquished by him, all the kings of the earth recognized him to be the only warrior on earth, like Purandara among the gods.
Analysis: They all indirectly accepted his superiority. And it says that "all kings" that too "of the earth", "vanquished by him". Do you know what that means? it means that he defeated all of the kings.

- All the kings respected Pandu and worshipped him as their lord/saviour, they paid tribute to him.
Quote:
All the lords of the earth came and worshipped him with joined hands. They brought him gems and riches of various kinds—precious stones, pearls, coral, a lot of gold and silver, the best cows, the best horses, the best chariots, elephants, donkeys, camels, buffaloes and some goats and sheep. The king of Nagapura270 accepted them all.
Analysis: Nagapura is another name for Hastinpore by the way. It's written that "all" lord of the earth paid him tribute. This means that "all" of them accepted their defeat.

- Proof of Pandu subjugating kingdoms

- Portions of the wealth were given to his family members.
Quote:
‘On Dhritarashtra’s command, Pandu offered the riches he had won to Bhishma, Satyavati and their mothers.274 Pandu also sent a part of the riches to Vidura. The one with dharma in his soul also pleased his relatives by giving them riches.
Analysis: He was more of a daanveer than karna. He would share his wealth that he earned better. I can see where Arjuna got his name "Dhananjaya" from.
Source: Adi parva Section 106
Pandu was the baap of karna too.... even karna wanted pandu to be his father and wanted to be his son, not surya's, not adhiratha's.
Anyways as you can see someitmes i will provide screenshots of the translation instead of actual chapter numbers for the "source" column.
Also don't forget this (who did Karn's mother Kunti choose?), among thousands of kings Pandu stood out.
Quote:
Her father arranged for a svayamvara. She found the handsome Pandu among thousands of powerful kings who had teeth like lions, shoulders like elephants and eyes like bulls. Blessed with unlimited good fortune, Kuru’s descendant and Kuntibhoja’s daughter were married, like Maghavan with Poulomi.268
Analysis: Compare to the mere one hundred kings that karna faced in the kalinga swayamvar. Hahah. One thousand (1,000) is far better than 100 (one hundred). He could defeat ten (10) karnas. Bahahahahahah.

the namard karna fans wont read it though like hanuman bhakts wont accept he lost to angad and sugreev
ReplyDeleteWhen did sugreev and angad defeated lord hanuman..don't insult lord hanuman, he is the most powerful god
Deletehanuman was beaten by foot soldiers too
Deletehes not a match for brave warriors like sakuni putra ULUK
even duryodhans son laxman was better than hanuman
if you consider him to be a lord then that means you are even more inferior to foot soldiers than he was
