Sātyāki in the Purānā's & other text's.

Intro - Originally posted in the month of March in the year 2022, now updated (editedto include & add the content of MBTN (madhvacharya's mahabharath) for the information that is relevant concerning the character of Satyaki.

I did make another post called "Satyaki (what MBTN says about him)" but i decided to delete it before the deletion i added it's content to the bottom half of this post. Also the madhvacharya content is only from incident's prior to the Kurukshetra War.

My belief; i do not consider the Purans to be canonical or authentic or credible, but i will use them against people in debates about alternate versions of Māhābhārātā (basically not serious important topic's).

Onto the āctuāl post.
Purānā's describe Satyaki in a respectable manner. He was considered a great warrior. But the first quote will be from a poem called "purusha-caritra" It was the only source i found anything about Satyaki on excluding Mahabharat, Bhagavatama etc.

Quote:
"Fighting with divine iron missiles, like elephants of the gods with their tusks, they became terrifying to the three worlds. After a long time, their weapons destroyed like clouds whose water is exhausted, both fought with their own arms, striking fist against fist. They shook the earth with their hard falls and jumps up and both split open the skies, as it were, with the noise of slaps on the arms. Sātyaki bound Bhūriśravas with a rope, twisted his neck, pressed his back with a knee, and killed him."

Basically - he defeated & slew a warrior fairly this warrior [Bhurishravas] is not ordinary, he had access to divine weapon's. It is a far better achievement than what karna did on day 17 [only murdering normal warriors like Devapi, Ugrakarman etc].

His encounter with Bānā.
[quote]
"Lord Balarāma fought with Kumbhāṇḍa and Kūpakarṇa, Sāmba with Bāṇa’s son, and Sātyaki with Bāṇa."
"Leaving his fight with Sātyaki, he charged across the battlefield on his chariot."

-------------------
I will have to post a couple of achievement's that "Bānā" had attained. Because if Satyaki's opponent was not strong then people would not be impressed by his achievement's.

Boon's of Bānā
[quote]
"He became pleased with ten-headed Rāvaṇa, and also with Bāṇa, when they each chanted his glories, like bards in a royal court. Lord Śiva then bestowed unprecedented power upon each of them, but in both cases he was consequently beset with great difficulty."

His combat achievement;
"Excited to a frenzy by the fighting, Bāṇa simultaneously pulled taut all the strings of his five hundred bows and fixed two arrows on each string."
[end quote]

---------------
Basically; Satyaki defeated 2 warrior's that were stronger and more skilled than karna, parshuram, bhishma, hanuman etc.
Bānāsurā also had a army of 12 aukshounis (2,624,400 men).

PART 2.
What MBTN said about Satyaki.
MBTN stand's for "Maha Bharat Tatparya Nirnaya" or the commentary of a scholar named Madhwa charya.

Image 1;
Comment - Satyaki defeated Sisupala, the same sisupal burnt down Dwaraka & slapped hanuman, he also even peed on the older sister of karna's mother Kunti.
Image 2;
Comment - Satyaki knew how to conduct 32 different movement's and techniques/styles with a blade/sword.

Image 3;
Comment - Brahmadatta (the lover of Amva/enemy of Bhishma) was murdered by the brave Satyaki.
